An AI meeting participant is software that joins a video meeting — Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, or Google Meet — as a disclosed attendee with a name, and optionally a face and a voice. Unlike a notetaker, which watches silently and hands you a transcript afterward, a participant takes part while the meeting is live: you can address it, it can answer, and it contributes in the moment. Unlike an in-app recap, which summarizes for you in a side panel, a participant is present to everyone in the room, and its memory persists across meetings as structured records rather than isolated summaries.
The category matters because meetings are where decisions get made, and until now the AI in the meeting could only listen.
